The companies represented diverse technology segments including consumer Internet, digital media, enterprise software, IT infrastructure, and circuit design, DSO said in a statement.

The officials were in the US to represent DSO at the 10th Annual Intel Capital CEO Summit. The event held at Huntington Beach, California, brought together select CEOs and key executives from Global 2000 businesses and Fortune 500 companies, academia, thought leaders, government officials and professional services providers.

During the discussions, Dr Mohammed Al Zarouni, Vice-Chairman and CEO of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, or DSOA, emphasised the importance of cooperating with Intel to attract international technology companies to the region in general and more specifically to Dubai Silicon Oasis. “The Intel Capital CEO Summit was a great platform for industry leaders to exchange ideas and network with the key decision-makers,” Dr Zarouni said. “Our sponsorship of the event demonstrates our commitment to establishing a strong presence internationally and promoting DSO’s offering to a diverse customer base. It is a great privilege for us to participate in such events that seek to focus on leadership in the technology sector.

“The event allowed us to meet and explore different ways to attract technology companies to operate at DSO while channelling research and development to the technology park. The summit also explored investment opportunities in these start-ups and ways to collaborate with different companies.”

DSO delegation also included Ray Milhem, Chief Technology Officer, Technology Investment, and William Chappell, Chief Financial Officer at DSOA. The delegation met with Paul Otellini, CEO of Intel Corp, and other members of the executive management team in addition to representatives of other Fortune 500 firms such as CISCO and Comcast.

A wholly-owned entity of the Government of Dubai, DSO operates as a free zone technology park for semiconductors, microelectronics and other electronics-based companies looking to set up their regional headquarters and R&D divisions in Dubai.
