During the meeting, they discussed ways to boost cooperation between Dubai and Michigan. The delegation, which include a number of senators from the state, will review some multi-million dollar projects in Dubai and would discuss ways to boost cooperation in all fields in line with the twinning agreement signed between Dubai and Detroit.

Sultan said that the visit would open new areas of friendship and cooperation between the two cities and cited the facilities and services Dubai provides for businessmen, investors and visitors.

Baidoun praised Dubai's mega projects, comprehensive development and the excellent services Dubai offers to the general public.

Scott Hamel, senate member for Michigan, expressed profound appreciation for Dubai's achievement and development, describing the image that western media portrays the Middle East as a conflict zone "a complete distortion".

In 1998, Dubai and Detroit signed a twinning agreement, which calls for sharing of ideas and expertise in various fields. The agreement urges the two cities to work together to develop programmes and activities in the field economy, commerce, science and technology, art and culture in a way that would boost bilateral ties and sharing of information between the two sides.
