The ranking has been done on the basis of number of enquiries received by M.F.E. for each country in 2004 as well as most important growth of expatriates population registered in Foreign Consulates in 2004 as well during 2000 - 2003.

The results of the survey were published by Le Figaro magazine, the weekly French newsmagazine with over 2.8 million readers. The survey highlighted Dubai as the most-dynamic destination within the top 10 'new destinations' and the most-preferred one for the French businessmen and expatriates.

The report said: “The Emirate offers all services and conditions requested by French, safety, tax heaven, education, health, fantastic infrastructures, warm welcome from local people, and above all a fantastic economic development.’’

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) Manager Media Relations, Eyad Ali Abdul Rahman, said: “This survey results are a clear reflection of our unfaltering marketing drive, promotions and media awareness about Dubai in France, which stands next to the UK and Germany in European in terms of sending visitors to the emirate.’’

The DTCM Paris office has seen a substantial increase in awareness in France regarding expatriation, export and investment in Dubai.

The number of inquiries multiplied four times since the year 2000 while the number of French expatriates has more than doubled and the number of companies in the emirate has multiplied five times during the same period.

DTCM, as part of its numerous promotions in the French market, recently exhibited at "Avenir Export" an export exhibition which took place in Paris from May 31 to June 2 and recorded a remarkable interest from visitors for both exports and investments.

The Dubai stand attracted 460 visitors representing an increase of more than 12 per cent compared to the 2004 edition. The increasing demand from French exports companies to trade and to set up in the Emirate as well as the number of French companies set up in Dubai has recorded an impressive 233 per cent increase from 1997 to 2005 touching a total of 300 to date. France exports to Dubai has also seen an increase while the country ranked sixth in Dubai imports ( $1.8 billion) in 2003.
