Dubai, Germany discuss trade at IMEX-2005

DUBAI — Worldwide exhibition for Incentive Travel, Meetings and Events (IMEX-2005) in Frankfurt, witnessed meetings between Dubai and Germany to boost the cooperation between convention bureaus.

Khalid A bin Sulayem, director general of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), and Lutz P. Vogt, Managing Director, German Convention Bureau (GCB) met at the Worldwide Exhibition for Incentive Travel, Meetings and Events (IMEX-2005) in Frankfurt and reviewed Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) market trends and discussed ways of cooperation.

Heading the biggest-ever delegation for the three-day annual networking gathering of MICE industry decision-makers and German tourism industry key players, bin Sulayem presented Lutz promotional literature about Dubai, including The Definitive Meeting and Event Planner's Guide.

Now into its second edition, this flagship publication of Dubai Convention Bureau (DCB) has remained in big demand at the IMEX-2005 which attracted over 3,000 hosted-buyers and 2,500 exhibitors from over 130 countries. The publication has an initial print run of 10,000 copies.

Sulayem said: "Dubai has been working not only towards matching the needs of the MICE industry but exceeding the expectations of the visitors of the ideal year-round business and leisure destination.
