A senior official of the company further confirmed that the opening of the Mumbai outlet in the upscale Nariman Point area later this year will be followed by a strategic expansion into other Indian cities, including Bangalore and New Delhi.

Mohi-Din Binhendi, President, BHE said: "Japengo Cafe's foray into the Indian market marks the entry of the second BHE brand into this growing market. Last year we opened our first exclusive Hugo Boss boutique in New Delhi and plan to open another one in Mumbai shortly.

"While Hugo Boss is an internationally recognised, iconic fashion brand for which we hold the franchise rights in Dubai and India, Japengo Cafe is a home-grown brand that BHE has developed in-house.

"We particularly expect our traditional Japanese Yakitori selection, which consists of Japanese barbecue fish, meats and vegetable, to become highly popular in the Indian market," he added.

Japengo Cafe is Dubai's first truly trans-national restaurant chain. Since its launch in December 2000, it has expanded now to include three highly popular cafes across Dubai.
