The committee discussed preparations being made to host the 58th annual meetings of the Board of Governors of the World Bank Group and IMF in Dubai on September 23 and 24.

They discussed the importance of ensuring that the plans that have been drawn up for Dubai 2003 were implemented on schedule and the importance of meeting regularly every week to help finalise the preparations.

The members assured that the arrangements were on schedule and that various administrative issues were almost ready.

Ibrahim Belselah, General Coordinator of Dubai 2003, presented an overview on the administrative needs of the teams working during the meetings. Another topic that was discussed by members is the need to provide staff and additional teams for better coordination between the General Secretariat of the IMF and World Bank and the Secretariat of the annual meetings in Dubai.

It was decided to recruit temporary staff from among those already working in government departments and on the recommendation of the various department heads to assist the Dubai 2003 teams that will help conduct the two meetings.
