The spectacular surge in the number of hits reflects the global community's unfaltering interest in Dubai as a year-round business and leisure destination, the ever-expanding portfolio of facilities and developments, and the aggressive marketing and promotional agenda being pursued by the DTCM. The DTCM Manager Information and Technology, Mr Suhail Buhelaiba, said: "The web site www.dubaitourism.ae Êhas been playing a crucial role in broadening the international profile of Dubai by offering vital information about every aspect of the emirate. The web site is frequently updated to make it more user-friendly and informative to the surfers. On January 20th, we crossed the 550,000 mark."

Dubai's status as a year-round destination has been confirmed once more through the web site traffic statistics remaining stable throughout the year 2003.

"There is no such thing as peak and off-peak season for our web site traffic. We are hopeful of attracting more visitors to the web site in the coming months given the developments and impressive growth of Dubai," he remarked.

The DTCM has been a front-runner among the local government organisations in utilising the Information Technology to promote tourism and trade to the emirate in addition to e-Services in line with the vision and objectives of General Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defense, and DTCM Chairman.

Launched almost five years ago, the DTCM web site has been attracting an average of over four million hits a month.

The portal's visibility has been enhanced through a link on the Dubai e-Government portal. Its key features include quick access to information, virtual tours that provide online tour of Dubai's attractions and live cameras.

The e-Complaint facility assists the Internet users in lodging grievance against the DTCM, Dubai or Dubai-based establishments.
