DIFC-LCIA Arbitration Centre Appoints First Registrar

DUBAI - The president of the London Court of International Arbitration Jan Paulsson has recently announced the appointment of Joseph Huse, Managing Partner of Freshfields, Middle East and North Africa, as the first registrar of the DIFC-LCIA Arbitration Centre.

The centre is located within the financial free zone, with its own common law jurisdiction and independent judicial system, and with a recently-enacted arbitration law based closely on the UNCITRAL model that sets the standard for arbitration laws worldwide.The appointment comes precisely on the first anniversary of the establishment of the centre and sees a seasoned practitioner take on a pivotal management role.
