Free tickets for the match are currently being distributed across the city, with all adult fans attending being entered into a draw to win the sleek red car. Youngsters will be entered into a draw to win a Dhs10,000 Barclays bank account.

Posing with the flame-red Nissan Altima, Diaky said Al Jazira players are determined to make it a night to remember all round. And with 10 goals to his name, it has been a vintage campaign so far for the midfielder.

Speaking at the announcement inside the Mohammed Bin Zayed stadium, he said: “I’m in great form — as good a form as I have ever been in. Sometimes you play well but the goals just don’t come but at the moment they are coming and we are playing really well. But my focus is on the team more than myself. I would be happy not to score as long as the team wins. It’s my objective to bring the title to this club, but I realise my goals are important.”

Al Jazira remain the only club in the Pro League this season not to have lost a game, and their unbeaten run stretches back to last season, meaning they have now gone unbeaten in the league for 31 matches.

Diaky said records are great but warned they do not win trophies. “Our unbeaten stretch is impressive and shows the type of football we play. It’s attacking and we get results. But it is the silverware that counts at the end of the season and the entire club is focused on this,” he added.

Speaking about the Al Ain team, he said: “We do not fear any side in this league because we know when we play well we win. It’s a big game against Al Ain because every game is a big game for us and we want to make sure we’re on top of our game all the time. Our recent win against Al Shabab was not our best performance but we got the result and that’s what winning titles is all about.”

Fellow midfielder Yaser Matar added: “We are focused and determined to take one step more than last season. To go into the New Year at the top of the table will be brilliant for the confidence of the team.”
