"At this time, DAE is not considering a bid for Gatwick," Chief Executive Officer Bob Johnson said yesterday in an e-mailed response to queries from Bloomberg.

The London-based Times newspaper said earlier that Dubai Aerospace might bid for Gatwick should regulators force airport operator BAA Ltd and its Spanish owner Grupo Ferrovial SA to sell.

The UK Competition Commission said two weeks ago it was examining whether BAA's monopoly ownership of London airports, Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted, should be broken up, the Times said. Bankers in London are working on possible acquisition strategies for several clients, the newspaper said. Analysts say these are likely to be financial buyers, such as Australian-based Macquarie Bank Ltd., or private equity groups, the Times said.
