Corporation Bank celebrates 107th foundation day

DUBAI - Corporation Bank celebrated its 107th Foundation Day on March 12. The Bank started functioning on March 12, 1906 in the temple town Udupi in the then South Kanara District under the leadership of Khan Bahadur Haji Abdullah Haji Kasim Saheb Bahadur.

The Bank has grown from a humble beginning as a “Nidhi” with a first day business of Rs38, annas 13 and pies. 2, to a business level of over two lakhs eighteen thousands crore rupees, as on December 31. On the occasion of its foundation day, the bank organised a function at Dr T M A Pai International Convention Centre in Mangalore. The function started by paying tribute to the bank’s founder president Khan Bahadur Haji Abdullah Haji Kasim Saheb Bahadur by Shri Ajai Kumar, chairman and managing director of the bank, Shri Ashwani Kumar and Shri Amal Lal Daultani, executive directors, directors of corporation bank and other dignitaries present on the occasion.

Shri Kumar launched the CorpBank app for Android tablets and smartphones and said that the bank will be launching the app for iPad and iPhone shortly. Launching the CorpBank App Shri Kumar said: “In one’s quest to compute, commute and communicate all at once, convenience is the key. Tethered or wired desktops gave way to laptops and now laptops are paving the way to smartphones and iPads. The Tablets enable a user to collate, communicate and access information on the move, apart from sending and receiving mails. We are witnessing the dawn of the tablet age and corporation bank, which has always been a forerunner in technology adoption has developed apps to provide customers yet another channel to bank with us”.

The bank honoured with CorpBank Lifetime Achievement Award to five renowned personalities for their service to the society in the function. The awards were presented to Padma Bhusan Dr B.M. Hegde, Padma Shree Dr BR Shetty, Padma Shree Dr B Ramana Rao, Kalaimamani Padma Shree Dr Kadri Gopalnath and Padma Bhusan Mrs Ela Bhatt.
