CNBC to focus on Dubai as centre of commerce

DUBAI - CNBC Europe, the leading business and financial TV network, will show special features on Dubai from 6-10 December 2004.

The week-long features will include daily interviews with key representatives from the finance, tourism and leisure sectors. In addition, it is set to visit the Dubai Film Festival, broadcasting a special report from the event, as Dubai seeks to establish itself as the media and entertainment 'hub' in the region.

Jeremy Pink, VP, Director of News and Programming at CNBC Europe said: “Dubai is quickly establishing itself as the centre of commerce and the access point for business people seeking opportunities in the Middle East and as such it is important for us to cover key business news events in the region. This is just one of a series of programming initiatives we will be bringing to CNBC Europe's audience of senior business executives across Europe in the coming months.”

The Dubai Week schedule of interviews on CNBC Europe includes Mohammed Al Hashimi, CEO, Amlak Finance; Omar Bin Sulaiman, Director-General, Dubai International Finance Centre; Gerard Lawless, CEO, Jumeirah International; Maurice Flanagan, Group President & Vice Chairman, Emirates; Steffen Schubert, CEO, Dubai International Financial Exchange; Habib Al Mulla, Chairman, Dubai Financial Services Authority, Shaikh Maktoum Hasher Maktoum Al Maktoum, CEO, A1 Grand Prix.

Special coverage of Dubai Film Festival will be broadcast on Wednesday December 8 in CNBC Europe's Power Lunch programme.
