The LAU is a career-orientated university with an objective to cater the educational needs of Lebanon and the Middle East by ensuring that a steady flow of qualified, competitively trained IT professionals are ready to enter the workforce on an ongoing basis. It will now act as a focal point for networking academy instructors to increase their abilities to teach the networking curriculum to students across the region.

Dr Riyad Nassar, president of LAU, said: "With Cisco's support we hope to continue delivering on our promise of broadening educational opportunities and providing increased exposure to technical career paths and vocational opportunities in the Middle East.''

The CATC will serve as the main training and support centre for the region's Cisco Networking Academy program. The program is a public, private partnership between Cisco, governments, educational institutions, NGOs and industry that delivers a rich, interactive, and personalised curriculum to students around the world.

The courses deliver web-based content, online assessment, student performance tracking, hands-on labs, instructor training and support, and preparation for industry standard certifications. The curriculum has been developed by Cisco Systems through its worldwide experience of IT needs and continues to raise the bar on e-learning and educational processes to over 10,000 academies in 154 countries worldwide.
