The product, Hayat, produced in Al Ain, comes in 340 plastic packs produced in February this year.

In Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority has already taken action to withdraw the contaminated product from the Emirate's market, according to Abdullah Juma Al Jinaibi, Director of Field Operations at the Authority.

"All confiscated quantities from grocery shops and supermarkets during the raids will be incinerated," Mr Jinaibi said.

He said during the raids carried out by the Market Control Section of the Authority, large quantities of contaminated skin whitening creams and other beauty products had been confiscated.
