Central Bank Reviews Reports On Banking, Economy

ABU DHABI - The Central Bank of the UAE board of directors, which met yesterday reviewed reports on the position of banks operating in the country, monetary position, banking indicators and impact of global crisis on the banks health and economy.

The Governor Sultan bin Nasser Al Suwaidi made a presentation with regard to the impact of the global financial crisis on banks and UAE economy detailing appropriate arrangements made to manage the situation, says a press release.

He also proposed a suggestion, regarding the new mechanism to approve annual accounts of banks.

The board reviewed the report of senior executive director of Treasury Department regarding the monetary position.

The board of directors of Central Bank of the UAE held its second meeting of the year 2009 on Sunday, 23 February, under the chairmanship of Khalil Mohammed Sharif Foulathi, chairman of the board.
