The sarcastic aside from RJD leader Bharat Prasad Singh, who is likely to contest the assembly elections in February, comes three days after the Election Commission directed police to file a first information report (FIR) against Lalu Prasad for distributing money to some women.

"I stopped giving money to my wife after the FIR against RJD chief and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad for violation of the model code of conduct by distributing money to some Dalit women to buy sweets," Singh said. In his letter to the Election Commission, Singh has asked the panel to provide him the guidelines.

"If the model code of conduct was violated by Lalu when he gave money to buy sweets, I want to know whether giving money to my wife is also a violation of the model code of conduct or not?" he asked. He said he would be contesting the poll from Lalganj constituency where his wife is a voter.

Singh said he was a social worker and helped the poorest of the poor by giving money for their medical treatment or to buy woollen clothes. But he had stopped doing so since the Election Commission's actions against Lalu Prasad.
