The strong performance built on a good April and busy Easter period when over 85 per cent of flights departed on time.

In addition, the airlines operations out of London Gatwick were the best on record for any major carrier with 94 per cent of all flights departing on time in May and 92 per cent in April.

Paolo De Renzis, British Airways’ Area Commercial Manager, Middle East said: “We are continually working to improve our operations and ensure we are consistently delivering the highest standards of service. These record performance figures illustrate our ongoing commitment to providing our customers with the best possible service.”

The carrier’s state-of-the-art hub, Terminal 5 handled more than four million customers in April and May and around 30,000 flights with more than 75 per cent of customers now rating the airline’s service as either very or highly satisfactory.
