The Emirates Airbus A380 landed in Ghana for the first time on October 2. And with its landing, the Dubai-based carrier realised dreams of many Ghanaians, who were part of the historic start.
The airline shared a heartwarming video sharing stories of the crew members, including Captain Solomon Quainoo, cabin crew team member Miriam Gunu and airport services manager Sylvia Bash.
"As a kid about 6-year-old in Ghana, the first time I saw an aeroplane, I said I wanted to be a pilot. People laughed at me when I said it because of my background. They thought I would never be able to make it. Many laughed at me when they saw me wearing gloves as I saw military pilots wearing them," Captain Solomon said.
But it was only through sheer determination that Captain Solomon was able to fulfill his dream.
"I never dreamt that as an A380 captain for Emirates, I would be able to fly the biggest passenger aircraft A380 to Accra and be the first person to do that," he says looking back at his journey.
