An 8.8-magnitude earthquake off Russia on Wednesday morning triggered widespread tsunami warnings in the US, Japan, Russia, China and others. Around 10-foot tsunami waves hit Hawaii on Wednesday morning after the earthquake, triggering an evacuation.

However, authorities said there was no damage or loss of lives “so far”.

According to Flightradar24, some flights were diverting away from Hawaii as the US state is now in a tsunami warning.

Alaska Airlines flights to Hawaii were reportedly delayed and cancelled amidst a tsunami warning.

We are holding flight departures to the Islands on Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines. As a safety precaution, flights en route to Hawai‘i are returning to the mainland or diverting as needed,” it said in a statement.
