Thursday is the cheapest day to fly out of UAE: Study

(KT file)

Contrary to popular belief, it's not Tuesday.

Travelling to another country almost always requires careful planning. Perhaps, one of the biggest decisions we make while travelling is when to fly out. Ticket prices fluctuate depending on when we are flying and that could spell the difference between getting a brilliant or average bargain.

A recent study by Skyscanner has revealed the cheapest day to fly out of the UAE. It's different from the oft-referenced cheapest day to buy tickets - Tuesday. Their study also revealed the best time to book your flight as well as the worst one.

According to the travel search site, Thursdays are the cheapest day of the week to fly out of the UAE. Based on data that they have collected from 2018, Skyscanner found that travellers could expect an estimated 10 per cent saving if they change their departure dates from a Friday to Thursday. Friday, coincidentally, is the most expensive day to fly out of the country.

Apart from that, their study also showed that Saturdays are the best days to book a flight. Travellers could save up to two per cent on their plane tickets if they book it on Saturday. On the other hand, booking flights on Wednesday might be a bad idea since the study shows that it's the most expensive day to reserve a ticket.

The study has more interesting findings to help you get a cheap flight. According to the website, Dubai-Delhi flights are 22 per cent cheaper when booked 19 weeks in advance. Dubai-Manila flights, on the other hand, must be booked 3-6 weeks in advance as they are 4 per cent cheaper than average. Booking a flight from Dubai-Islamabad, meanwhile, could be done 10-24 weeks in advance as they are 10 per cent cheaper than average.
