Boeing 737 Max grounding: Oman Air cancels hundreds of flights

Dubai - 588 flights have been cancelled between July 22 to August 31.

Oman's national carrier Oman Air has cancelled nearly 750 flights between July 14 and August 31 due to continued grounding of Boeing 737 Max aircraft.
The carrier's data showed that 588 flights have been cancelled between July 22 to August 31 on different routes including Mumbai, Dubai, Hyderabad, Goa, Calicut, Kathmandu and Moscow among others.
"As a result of the Public Authority for Civil Aviation directives on suspending operations of Boeing 737 Max, we have cancelled flights between July 7 to August 31, 2019. We are rebooking guests on alternative / next available flights to their destinations. We advise all our guests who are due to travel during the same period to check the flight status or contact our call center," the carrier said in a statement on its website.
Last week, flydubai announced delay in the launch of its Budapest flight due to continued grounding of the aircraft.
Boeing 737 MAX aircraft was grounded across the globe in March 2019 after two newly-delivered planes crashed within a span of five months, resulting in a death of 346 people. The aircraft manufacturer suspended deliveries and reduced production of the aircraft.
Boeing and airlines are waiting for the fixes and regulatory approval before the MAX can take off again.
According to its website, the airline operates fleet of 36 aircraft including half of its fleet consists of Boeing 737-800.
Its flight consists of 10 Airbus aircraft and 22 Boeing and four Embraer planes.
The US aircraft manufacturer, facing one of worst crisis in its history, will take $4.9 billion hit to cover the costs related to the ground of 737.
