Chauffer-driven car booking service Careem on Sunday said it would reduce its rater in Abu Dhabi in a few weeks time, said a press statement on Sunday.
"We have just received word from the regulator that we expect to be able to introduce a new and lower pricing structure for Careem services in Abu Dhabi within a matter of weeks.," said Bassel Al Nahlaoui, managing director, Gulf, Careem.
Al Nahlaoui said the new offering in Abu Dhabi would include an Economy, Business and Max - to be named Minivan - service in line with what customers experience in Dubai and with a similar pricing structure.
Careem currently has footprint in more than 90 cities across the globe.
In August 2016, both Uber and Careem had to pull out of Abu Dhabi market because the regulator was not happy with pricing. But Careem went back to the UAE capital against in February 2017.
The company said that new lower pricing would be in line with the Dubai rates.
Currently, the minimum Careem fare in Abu Dhabi is Dh40.
A Careem spokesperson said the firm has been negotiating with the regulator and the regulatory has agreed to a new pricing which is competitive for the ride-hailing app and more interesting for customers, too.
