Competition commissioner has mixed record in defending decisions
Ingrid Wolf, assistant market and media management, Vienna Tourist Board, told Khaleej Times yesterday that the number of tourists visiting Austria has been steadily growing on the year-to-year basis.
"We have a lot of visitors from the Arab world. In Vienna alone the number of nights spent by Arab tourists in the capital's hotels reached 32,000 last year and the number is all set to grow further this year.
Given this, the Austrian National Tourist Office, which has offices in all the important markets worldwide, decided to open its first ever representative office in Dubai to cater to the whole Arab world," she explained.
"Normally, we used to have workshops in different countries throughout the Arab world. Now, instead of that the Austrian National Tourist Office decided to have an official representation here," she said.
She said Klaus Ehrenbrandtner, who will be in charge of the office, will provide guidance to those, who are interested in visiting any place in Austria, and recommend hotels to stay, adding that the office has contacts with all the important travel agents and hotels throughout Austria.
Wolf spoke to this paper on the sidelines of a workshop organised by Austrian Airlines and EuroNet in Dubai yesterday. The airline, which is continuing to build upon its extensive route network between the Middle East, Europe and North America, has launched new attractive summer packages for Arab tourists visiting Austria.
