Audi posts strong growth in Mideast

DUBAI - Last year was once again characterised by strong growth for Audi Middle East with key markets announcing substantial percentage increases over the year. Worldwide, Audi set yet another record for vehicle sales in 2003, for the tenth year in succession.

In the Middle East Abu Dhabi experienced the strongest growth with sales increasing by an impressive 20 per cent. Qatar and Saudi Arabia also recorded exceptional growth figures of 15 per cent and 10 per cent increases respectively. Dubai increased sales by seven per cent over 2002.

Despite the instability faced by the region at the start of 2003, Audi experienced unparalleled demand following the introduction of the new A8 in 2003. The ultimate luxury vehicle, the new A8 takes the combination of sports experience and comfort to even higher levels. The Middle East responded enthusiastically with a sales increase of 48 per cent in 2003 over the previous year.

Despite the fact that the overall economic situation remains difficult, Audi vehicle sales worldwide increased by 3.7 per cent to 769,893 cars. Audi's export quota was around 69 per cent (2002: 67 per cent).
