It has passed the safety and security examination of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in different fields, including security, technical issues, supervision operations, customer service, catering, human resources, cargo handling and sales.
"Only two international airlines succeeded in the security certification programme in the very first attempt," said an official from Saudia's supervision office in Jeddah.
"Saudia is one of them and we are very proud to earn the honour. This shows the level of quality that we have achieved in this important field," he added.
Saudia also announced that their catering resources are all homegrown. "We care for what we serve to our passengers," said Shawgi Mushtaq, vice president of Saudia Catering.
"The first thing we do is keep track of the quality of the products we use. Saudia has earned the Safe and Quality Food (SQF) certification for the outstanding quality of their catering on both local and international flights," he said.
During the first half of 2005, Saudia provided its flights with more than eight million meals out of Jeddah, Riyadh, Madinah, Dammam and Cairo. It also supplied more than two million meals to other airlines that receive their catering from Saudia.
"This proves how good quality Saudia's catering is. All of our products are from the Saudi market, including fruits and vegetables, dates and mineral water, milk and juice and meat and cheese," Mushtaq said.
