In the new currency bills, the optically-variable stripe feature is replaced by a window in see-through on the right portion of its obverse side. Against a bright background, it shows the denomination value “500” in ornamental circles, whereas only an ornament design is seen against a dark background. Extending throughout the window is an optically-variable stripe showing the National Emblem, a falcon head and denomination value, which appearance and colours change depending on the viewing angle.

The silver metallic thread on the back of the note is replaced with a broader three-millimetre colour shifting window thread reading “UAE 500”.

The metallic ink surrounding the UAE emblem on the top portion of the obverse side is replaced by multicolour ink print. The metallic silver ink at the bottom left of the banknote is replaced by a multicolour latent image.

The falcon on the reverse side of the note is made smaller, and there is no intaglio printing on the reverse side of the banknote.

The overall design and other specifications of the note are the same as on the currency note currently in circulation.

The new bill will be dispensed to banks in accordance with the central bank’s established procedures for cash withdrawal and deposit.
