The agreement, which was signed on the sidelines of Cityscape ABu Dhabi exhibition, will see Aldar develop a total of eight clusters for residential development. Six of the clusters will include seven residential blocks with a main dining hall and spacious open green spaces. The remaining two clusters will have a central kitchen, shopping mall, medical clinic, an administration building and a mosque.
The estimated cost of the development is Dh500 million.
Several studies have been conducted to ensure that the infrastructure will handle the expected traffic and population numbers.
Aldar will start work immediately on the development, which will be completed in phases up to 2009.
"The workers residential city in Al Ain will provide much needed quality accommodation for the town's workers. The major agreement with Aldar, will implement and ensure global standards and international specifications throughout the project and we are in consultation with major industry leaders to ensure the best possible quality. We understand the vision of the country's leaders and we intend to ensure that we build a secure and stable community," said Jaber Hareb Al Khaili, Acting CEO, ZonesCorp.
