Al Jaber signs $300m deal to buy 7 Embraer aircraft

ABU DHABI — Al Jaber Group has signed a Dh1.1 billion ($300 million) deal with Embraer to purchase seven aircraft that will power Al Jaber's private jet service.

Obeid Al Jaber, Chairman, Al Jaber Group, and Luis Carlos Affonso, Embraer Executive Vice-President Executive Aviation, announced the deal at the 2007 Dubai Air Show yesterday.

As per the deal, Embraer will provide five Lineage 1000 and two Legacy 600 to Al Jaber Group, which will use the aircraft for on-demand charter. Al Jaber has also placed options on two more Lineage 1000 and one Legacy 600. "Our new aviation division is focused on providing the most luxurious flying experience for our clients, and it is imperative that we tie-up with the world's leading aircraft manufacturers to assure top-notch quality — both in terms of the product and service. Embraer has a sterling reputation and our partnership reiterates our commitment to making a difference in the private jet service sector."
