Around 320 of 760 flights planned for Saturday had been cancelled so far
The airline has signed a five-year contract with Lufthansa Systems to be the first in the UAE to use Multi-Host, an integrated systems solution that is already the choice of more than 40 carriers including Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, British Midland, LOT, Air Berlin and Qatar Airways. Lufthansa Systems is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group.
Etihad has implemented the package on a modular basis, using specific components to create a system, tailored to the airline's specific needs. Multi-Host's "pay for what you use" principle enables Etihad to integrate additional modules as business grows.
Modules cover all airline-relevant core processes such as flight planning, reservations, inventory, ticketing, revenue accounting and passenger processing. Airlines of all sizes can optimise their core processes and increase efficiency.
The contract was signed by Ali Saleh, Etihad's head of revenue management, and Klaus Giesemann, sales executive from Lufthansa Systems.
