Details of the expansion were unveiled at the Farnborough International air show yesterday by Virginia Kern, chairman, Fairs & Exhibitions (F&E), organisers of the Dubai 2005 air show.

"The design allows for integral expansion of the current East and West halls creating visitor free-flow through all three halls. The additional space will also allow us to create new meeting and seminar rooms within the halls. Foundation work on the new facilities will begin in October this year and will be completed in time for Dubai 2005," she said.

The planned new Central Hall will link the existing East and West halls and the Airport Expo's reception building, bringing an additional 10,000 square metres of space to the Dubai air show, she said, adding that growth in the Dubai air show - Dubai 2003 was the largest to date - led to the expansion demand.

"The 2003 show was a sell-out, and already we have many new companies signing up and existing exhibitors looking to grow, hence the additional space is vital to meet the 2005 demand. Now with detailed site plans, the stand allocation for Dubai 2005 starts in earnest," said Clive Richardson, chief executive, Aerospace Group, F&E.
