ADWEA signs Dh1.5b deal with consortium

ABU DHABI — The Abu Dhabi Water and Electricity Authority (ADWEA) has signed a partnership contract with the consortium of Biwater and Emirates Utilities Company Holding (EUCH), for water treatment projects worth Dh1.5 billion in the Emirate.

The agreement on the build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) basis is approved by the Executive Council of the Abu Dhabi Emirate.

The agreement calls for the treatment of 380,000 cubic metres of water per day for sanitation purposes in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

According to the agreement the consortium will set up two water treatment plants, each in Al Wathba in Abu Dhabi and Al Saad in Al Ain with total treatment capacity of 380,000 cubic metres.
