ABU DHABI — Abu Dhabi National Tanker Co. (ADNATCO) is in the process of selecting a project management consultant for ship acquisition as part of a plan to replace aging vessels with new ones that meet highest standards, said general manager Mohammed Salem Obaid Al Dhaheri.
Speaking at a dinner reception organised to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the tanker company which is wholly owned subsidiary of Adnoc, he said that the shipping company owns and operate a fleet of five product tankers, a molten sulphur carrier and two RoRo vessels.
"The company is operating in the international market facing tough competition", the general manager said, adding that company offers its services to its customer all over the world including oil majors in addition to parent company Adnoc, to which its provides logistical support and advice on shipping matters.
GM ADNATCO narrating the story of Company's growth and progress said that the company started with two VLCCs and now operates eight vessels.
He said that company has ambitious plans for emiratisation through development of UAE nationals to work for the company by providing scholarship to high school graduates who return after graduation to work as marine officers on board the ships of the Company. The ADNATCO has sponsored 25 students in UK and five marine officers are currently on board its ships.
GM ADNATCO said that company manages the shipping risk to a higher standard than that found in most similar companies world-wide and that its officers have showed a high degree of professionalism which is a credit to ADNATCO.
