ADCCI registers 4,319 new members this year

ABU DHABI - During the first six months of the current year, a total of 4,319 new members were registered with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI), showing an increase of 16 per cent, over a total of 3,630 during the same period last year.

The total number of members of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry reached 44,841 at the end of June this year, said Mohammed Ahmed Al Nuaimi, Assistant Director of ADCCI for Information Technology and Membership Affairs.

He said that the total included 30,113 trading companies, 1,590 professionals, 12,818 vocational and 320 industrial establishments.

Al Nuaimi said that a total of 86,318 business activities were registered during the six month period. Top ten activities were registered in the following areas: 3,837 in the imports, 2,906 in oil and gas field services, 2,857 in the general construction, 2,607 building maintenance. During the first half of the year 1,939 business activities were monitored in the grocery business, 1,543 in public transporting, 1,237 for auto electrical and air-conditioning repairs, 1,042 textile trading, 1,019 for welding activities, 963 third grade restaurants and 960 cafeterias.

During the six months, the renewal of trade names recorded reflected a rise of one per cent to 17,373 this year compared with 17132 during the corresponding period last year.

Similarly, there was an increase of 23 per cent in the number of trade names reserved during the period, increasing to 12,388 from 9,479 during the same period last year.

Al Nuaimi said that there was an increase of 13 per cent in issuance of certificates of origin to 4,977 as against 4,330 during the same period last year. During the first months of this year a total of 4,319 new members were registered with the ADCCI, showing an increase of 16 per cent over a total of 3,630 during the same period last year. This is distributed among 3,096 trading, 132 professionals, 1067 vocational and 19 industrial companies.

The top ten activities of these new members are: general construction 279, public transporting 259, general maintenance 244, importing 241, irrigation 162, telephone and communications equipment trading 121, concrete mixing 113, auto electrical and air-conditioning maintenance 93, stores 91 and cafeteria 81.

Al Nuaimi said that the chamber was providing all the information and statistics about the companies registered in Abu Dhabi in its website and in the electronic Abu Dhabi Commercial Directory. An average of 3000 people were visiting site every day reaching the total number of visitors 13 million.
