ADCB to build Dh133m HQ

ABU DHABI - Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) has announced plans to build a specially designed head office located on the corner of Salam and Zayed II Streets in Abu Dhabi. The new ADCB headquarters is scheduled to open in January 2006.

The construction contract worth Dh133 million (US$ 36 Million) was signed by Eirvin Knox, chief executive officer - ADCB and Abdullah H. Yabroudi, managing director, Dubai Contracting Company (DCC) in Mid-December.

Also present at the contract signing were project managers Turner Construction International, Chilean architects Burja Hudobro and consultants from Architecture and Planning Group.

"As ADCB enters a new period of growth which will see it expand its customer base, product portfolio and customer service offerings, the Bank's head office must be capable of meeting the needs of this expansion. With additional space and improved facilities, our new head office will be equipped to provide customers with a better environment conduct and support all their banking requirements," said Knox.

The new building will have 23 levels with a total area of 4,590 sq. meters. the project is expected to take 24 months for completion.

The new head office will encompass the bank's main branch with 19 floors, one floor devoted to technical systems and the 21st floor set to feature a multifunctional reception hall, an auditorium and conference facility. The building will be supported by a customised three level underground car park capable of accommodating 167 vehicles. With contemporary architectural design, the building will have a clear crystal glass faade.

In addition, it will feature the smart building concept through computer automation of every aspect of the building's systems, such as cooling, lighting and communications.
