The project involves the removal and replacement of the bridges, a passenger boarding lounge and related ancillary works. The DCA is stepping up efforts to enhance the existing facilities at the airport where the passenger traffic has been steadily on the rise, said a spokesman for the department.

The telescopic apron-driven passenger boarding bridges will serve as a link between the new passenger boarding lounge and the aircraft, while the lounge will serve as a 'relieving zone' to the satellite building and augment the seating capacity by 350. It will feature rest rooms, flight information display boards, TV monitors and other modern amenities. The lounge will be a state-of-the-art dome structure with extended wings on either side of the dome. The lounge will enhance the passenger handling capacity at the airport besides adding to the comfort features for passengers.
