DUBAI — Leading Indian IT companies will showcase their capabilities in hardware, software, services and IT industry infrastructure at Gitex Dubai.
The exhibitor line-up, under the banner of Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC), includes 36 companies offering a wide range of services and technologies.
“ESC has been encouraging Indian IT companies, particularly small and medium enterprises, to participate at Gitex by offering special packages to them since Middle East markets offer tremendous potential. India’s exports of electronics and software has reached $980 million to Middle East in 2007-08 and the region continues to maintain its fifth position for India’s exports of electronics and computer software/services,” said Kamal Vachani, Regional Director of ESC for the Middle East.
Venu Rajamony, Consul General of India, Dubai will inaugurate the ESC pavilion at Gitex.
D.K. Sareen, Executive Director, ESC, said the Indian contingent was expecting a successful business interface at Gitex as it would draw region’s key decision makers.
“The exhibition offers an exciting business potential for companies looking to expand operations in the region. India’s success in information technology and an expanding pool of human resources have created many areas of co-operation between the two regions for mutual advantage in areas ranging from banking, insurance and other financial services, manufacturing, retail and distribution.”
He said Indian software industry had moved away from direct marketing to end-users to provide solutions to a host of operational areas in manufacturing and services. These are areas which are directly relevant to the Middle East and the neighbouring countries, said Sareen.
