Huawei has unveiled its new flagship wearable, the Watch Ultimate 2 — a smartwatch crafted with premium materials, exceptional build quality, and standout features such as a dedicated dive mode with underwater communication. The construction and finish are impeccable, while dual band GNSS and eSIM support ensure stable and reliable connectivity. NFC payments are available as well, though only via an external prepaid service.

The latest Chinese wearable gadget is a notable feat of engineering aimed at athletes, divers, and health conscious users, offering several wellness features not commonly found in rival smartwatches. Among its standout capabilities is a health function that has the potential to save lives, thanks to advanced sensors that monitor ECG readings, arterial stiffness, skin temperature, stress levels, emotional patterns, breathing performance, and sleep breathing quality.

The Watch Ultimate 2 is a premium, adventure-focused smart wearable device featuring a 1.5-inch 3,500-nit display, 20 ATM/150m diving capabilities, and unique underwater sonar messaging. It is marketed as the world's first smartwatch featuring sonar-based underwater communication and 150-metre diving capabilities.

At the same time, the large battery means buyers don’t have to charge it daily as it lasts for 4–11 days in one charge. The display reaches exceptional brightness levels and a rugged zirconium/sapphire build, competing with top-tier adventure watches.

The smart watch is available in three colours. The black model is more understated, while the green and silver version with blue and white accents is noticeably more eye-catching. All variants are identical in terms of hardware.

The Ultimate 2 represents Huawei’s most advanced smartwatch to date and it will further strengthen its position in wearable gadgets and help increase its market share. In 2025, Huawei secured 18% share of the global smartwatch market and ranked number one position for shipping highest number of smartch units, according to Counterpoint Research.

The Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 smartwatch, which was unveiled last November in the UAE following a global debut on September 19, 2025, received the HarmonyOS 6.0.0.209 update in January 2026 introducing a crucial heart failure risk assessment tool, coronary heart disease research, and a wheelchair activity mode. This update also improves golf course mapping, cycling metrics, and app controls. Below are some of the salient features of the Watch Ultimate 2:

Setup and operation: The Huawei Health app is required to set up and operate the Watch Ultimate 2. The latest version is available in the Google Play Store, and it can be downloaded from other app stores or directly via the browser.

E-sim support: The Watch Ultimate 2 can make calls and receive messages even without a paired smartphone as it has a e-sim support, providing access to call logs and all contacts stored on the phone, and numbers can also be entered manually via an on-screen keypad.

Health features: The Watch Ultimate 2 measures heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, and ECG. It also tracks stress levels and general mood, and it can also monitor skin tempreture.

A fall-detection sensor is also included and help save the life of wearer. If the watch detects a fall and the wearer doesn’t repond, it can alert designated emergency contacts. Some tests can also be launched manually on the watch by placing a finger on the X-Tap sensor, and they take only about a minute.

Sleep tracking: The Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 offers extensive sleep tracking. It records the different sleep stages and shows both their timing and their proportion of total sleep. These stages are visualised on a timeline.

Training recording: The Watch Ultimate 2 supports a wide range of sports. You can set goals for individual activities and customise the data fields shown on the display.

The Watch Ultimate 2 can send text messages and SOS alerts underwater, with a stated range of up to 30 metres. It is rated for depths of up to 150 metres, and a dedicated diving app assists with timing.

Navigation: The Watch Ultimate 2 supports all major satellite systems with dual-band reception.

Offline maps for selected regions can be downloaded directly to the device, allowing navigation even without an internet connection.

The smart watch also includes an expedition mode feature. Offline maps can be stored, and waypoints can be set to help navigate unfamiliar terrain. It can emit an audible SOS signal.

Another new addition is a golf-course mode, featuring 1,000 stored courses across 19 countries. The smartwatch is designed to aid navigation on the course and provides digital point maps.

Verdict: The Watch Ultimate 2 is perfect choice for tech-savy outdoor enthusiasts, or those wanting a high-end, durable smartwatch. This is not a smartwatch for the casual user but rather a dedicated device for professional athletes and serious recreational fitness enthusiasts. The primary focuses are diving and golfing, although Huawei promotes the watch as being ideal for a much broader range of activities.
