Like the fashion industry, the beauty industry lives in the future. From major international beauty brands to smaller independent brands, products take time to conceptualise, design, produce and ship, with so many steps in between. Brands are always at least a season or two ahead. And thanks to S/S 2019 designer runways, we can foresee which beauty looks will be trending.
A warm, youthful glow
Clear skin is always on trend, especially when going foundation-free. Beyond a great skincare routine, using basic skin correctors, like Huda Beauty's Overachiever Concealer can give the appearance of a clear, even-toned complexion by concealing dark circles with a full-coverage matte finish. Say "goodbye" to daytime contour and "hello" to bronzer! The classic Hoola Matte Bronzer from Benefit Cosmetics is such a versatile, buildable bronzer. Using a highlighter, like the Becca Cosmetics Simmering Skin Perfector in C Pop, would give the perfect glow-from-within to finish the look.
The blush smokey eye
This trend makes the 5-minute makeup look a true reality. Yes, I said it! Grab your favourite blush and use it across the lid, smoke under the eye, use on the cheeks and brush over the lips. Boom, done! If you want more colour options, try Huda Beauty's The New Nude Palette for a variety of pink, peach and purple options.
Natural brows
The age of the perfect Instagram brows is gone. Welcome to the age of the soft, feathered, brushed brow. A touch of powder, like the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo, to perfectly fill in sparse areas and a swipe of clear brow gel is all you need. Minimal. Natural. Stunning.
Anything but black
Wondering how to use your favourite bold colours in S/S 2019? Instead of a black liner, try a blue cat-eye using a Kat Von D Liquid Matte Eyeliner in Darkwave or create a golden shimmer liner look using Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Eye Crayon in All That Glitters. Reaching for your jet-black mascara? Try Yves Saint Laurent's Vinyl Couture Mascara in I'm The Madness - Pink for a fun and unique lash look.
Bold red lips
As winter turns to spring, a bold red lip takes us from the holidays through Valentine's Day - and the Spring designer runways agree. From NYC designers Rodarte, Lela Rose and Hellessy to German brand Escada, to London-based designer Ryan Lo, red lips were all over the runway! Try Fenty Beauty's Stunna Lip Paint in Perfect Universal Red or Sephora Collection Color Lip Last Lipstick in Pure Red.
