A passenger on board a British Airways flight from London's Heathrow Airport to Dubai had to be restrained by crew members after becoming aggressive and claiming to have a bomb on board.

In a series of tweets, British radio DJ Steve Penk, whose daughter was on board the aircraft, chronicled what happened.

"Some guy went berserk on board five hours into the flight claiming he had a bomb and everyone was going to die," he tweeted. "It took five crew and the help of another passenger to restrain him. They had to handcuff him and then cover him with a blanket."

"My daughter Natalie says the guy was literally screaming and shouting he couldn't breathe," Penk added, noting that the passenger was also "spitting at everyone".

The flight -- BA105 -- landed safely in Dubai just before 7 am on Wednesday morning.

Penk also said that his daughter was "very shaken up" and that "the BA crew on board were amazing apparently".

In a statement sent to Khaleej Times, a British Airways spokesperson said that "our customers and crews deserve to enjoy their flights, and not to suffer any form of abuse. This sort of behaviour will absolutely not be tolerated, and the appropriate action will always be taken".
