Dubai — Emirates airline on Wednesday announced a new codeshare agreement with Exeter-based Flybe, Europe’s largest regional airline, which is set to open up new destinations for Flybe and Emirates passengers across the UK.
The new agreement will see Emirates’ code added to 25 Flybe routes across the UK after regulatory approval, adding a total of 13 new destinations to Emirates’ global network and connecting customers to cities such as Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey and Newquay.
All Flybe flights will connect with Emirates flights to Dubai and beyond, flying from its Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham gateways. Emirates and Flybe are targeting a July launch for the new codeshare.
Thierry Antinori, Emirates’ executive vice-president and chief commercial officer, said: “Our new codeshare agreement with Flybe will provide our passengers with increased choice, flexibility and ease of connection to different cities within the UK to and from Dubai, ultimately offering a smoother, more convenient travel experience.”
Paul Simmons, Flybe’s chief commercial officer, said: “This new codeshare agreement with Emirates is yet another important milestone in the continued growth of Flybe. It allows us to give our UK customers a ‘One Stop to the World’ option with convenient access to Dubai and onwards to the rest of the world through our regional route network, direct from their local airport.” - abdulbasit@khaleejtimes.com
