Keeping in mind the growing ties between the UAE and India, Air India has announced the operation of its second Dreamliner in Dubai-Kochi route.
In a Press conference held at the Indian consulate on Tuesday, Melwin D'Silva, Air India's regional manager (Gulf, Middle East & Africa), said AI 934 will depart from Dubai daily at 1.30pm to reach Kochi at 6.50am.The return flight, AI 933, will depart from Kochi at 9.15am and will arrive at Dubai at 12pm.
Anurag Bhushan, Consul-General of India in Dubai, said the UAE and India are striving for new momentum and new dimensions. "Before 2016, the years were not good for the aviation industry because fuel charges and now we see an increase in domestic as well as International traffic. So, the figures are encouraging and lots of new developments are taking place. This new operation which comes with introductory offers and remarkable features will benefit the members of the Indian community in the UAE," he added.
D'Silva said the introductory offers include free baggage allowance of 40kg on economy class and 50kg on business class.
"Kerala is a very important market for Air India in this part of the region. In the Gulf Mena region, we have almost 360 plus flights operating on a weekly basis, of which 24 per cent of the capacity fly to Kerala. So it's a very important market for Air India. That's why after Delhi, we have mounted a flight to Kochi with a dreamliner. The fares are attractive and we are in the expansion mode with the catchline fly more, fill more. With effect from February 1, Air India will start operating its state-of-the-art B787 Dreamliner on Dubai-Kochi route."
In January last year Air India Express launched four weekly flights to Thiruvananthapuram from Al Ain with an introductory offer of fares starting from Dh400.
"Air India is among the first airlines of the world to induct the B787 Dreamliner into its fleet. It has the privilege of being the second airline to operate the Dreamliner into the Best Airport in the Middle East," said D'Silva.
