Dr Hanif Al Qasimi, Vice President of the University said the 'experts list' available on the university's homepage has more than 36 names of faculty members who are experts in varous fields of business, technology and academics.

"Experts are selected according to their qualifications and experiences as well as their ability to analyse real world problems and information, develop sensible solutions and their communication with the individuals of the society."

The list will be updated with more faculty members joining the university in the future, he added.

Commenting on the need for designing 'experts list' web site, Dr Al Qassimi pointed out that it aims to embody both scientific and academic roles of the university. Zayed University has been involved over the last five years in several community services and outreach programmes. Now the time has come to offer the community the resources and expertise of the faculty members in developing research in the fields of information, science and technologies to serve and develop the society.

"As a modern academic institution, it becomes our responsibility to disseminate knowledge to the community through reserach and development projects in the UAE and the region," Dr Al Qassimi added.

He said the university's electronic data base of international faculty and experts would certainly achieve these goals and assist all government and private sectors as well as the media to benefit from their services and consultations, which will be available free of charge within the UAE and later expanded to other Gulf countries.

Dr Larry Wilson, Zayed University's new Provost, said the launch of the experts list web site is an indication to the standard of faculty hired by the university. "The level of expertise possessed by our faculties both in research and teaching fields will be reflected through the website," he pointed out.

Meanwhile, John Connolly, Deputy Vice President for Research at ZU, added that the list available on the university's web page indicates high priority for integrating research in academic activities to help develop and disseminate scientific knowledge.

The list of experts provides full information and data about professors in all the six colleges of the university.
