ABU DHABI — Traffic and Patrols Directorate of the Abu Dhabi Police has called on motorists and road users to behave in a civilised manner during the celebration of the 40th National Day.
“The directorate will show zero tolerance against the offenders, and police vehicles will be deployed to cover all streets and road junctions. Drivers should observe speed limit, be attentive and abide by all traffic laws and rules regarding decoration of the vehicles in a way that ensure the safety on the road,” Brigadier Hussein Ahmed Al Harthi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, stressed.
The police understand the patriotic feel of the public, but will react harshly towards any violation or disrespect of the law, he said, adding that the celebrations should not block the traffic flow tarnish the general view of the city and its public utilities.
Brigadier Harthi warned youth of taking advantage of the National Day to act in an uncivilised manner on the road. Such irresponsible and uncivilised behaviours including road races, reckless driving causing traffic disruption by stopping on road junctions when the traffic signal is green will be strictly handled, said Al Harthi.
He urged drivers to follow the instructions of the traffic personnel deployed on streets and road junctions to ease the flow of the traffic.
