Zayed, Khalifa hold talks with Kazakh president

ABU DHABI - The President, His Highness Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, held talks on Sunday with President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan over a host of current regional and international issues. Mr Nazarbayev is on a visit to the UAE.

Present at the meeting were Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, other Shaikhs, ministers and members of the delegation accompanying the Kazakh president. Later in the afternoon, Shaikh Khalifa hosted a reception for President Nazarbayev. Shaikh Khalifa expressed the hope that President Nazarbayev's visit to the country would strengthen cooperation and friendly ties between the two countries and would provide an opportunity for exchanging views on means of upgrading cooperation in various fields, particularly in economic, trade and investment sectors.

He stressed the country's keenness to extend bridges of cooperation and friendship with other Muslim and friendly countries, including Kazakhstan. President Nazarbayev said he was delighted to visit the UAE, which he noted, enjoys the respect of his government and people. The Kazakh leader said his country was economically, commercially and culturally open to the UAE in particular and countries of the region in general. He hailed achievements made by the UAE in various fields of development, thanks to the sagacious policy of Shaikh Zayed.
