Zayed gets message from Qatar Amir

ABU DHABI - Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received here yesterday Shaikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabr Al Thani, Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, Shaikh Hamad conveyed a verbal message from His Highness Shaikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the Amir of Qatar, for the President, His Highness Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, dealing with bilateral relations and developments in the region.

The meeting was attended by Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, senior UAE officials and Abdullah Mohammed Al Uthman , Qatari Ambassador to the UAE.

Meanwhile, Kuwait's deputy prime minister said yesterday his country was calling for an emergency meeting of foreign ministers of Gulf Arab states to discuss developments in the area.

Shaikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah, who also serves as foreign minister, said in Kuwait City preparations were under way for an Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (AGCC) meeting in Kuwait today. He did not elaborate.

Before the war on Iraq broke out, AGCC member countries sent several thousand soldiers to help protect Kuwait from any Iraqi retaliation. Iraqi forces have targeted Kuwait with at least 17 missiles since the beginning of the war.
