The MoU comes as part of the efforts towards enhancing and upgrading charity and auqaf works in the country.

Dr Hamdan Al Mazrouei, chairman of the Authority, praised the country’s wise leadership for its continued support to the two philanthropic organisations.

Al Mazrouei said the MoU aimed at tapping the experience of each side in different areas like the promotion of zakat and endowment among members of the community through Friday sermons, religious occasions, lectures and symposiums across the country under the supervision of the Authority.

As per the MoU, the Zakat Fund will be allowed to distribute posters and flyers at these centres. An e-link will be established between the web-sites of the GAIAA and the Fund. The Fund will also use the Authority’s magazine — Manar Al Islam — as a media tool to promote its message.

Abdullah Aqeida Al Muhairy, secretary-general of the Fund, said his agency would seek to bolster joint charity partnerships with various bodies inside the country to serve the noble mission of the Fund.

He said the MoU called for organising, preparing and marketing joint campaigns by the two bodies.

The signing ceremony was attended by Dr Mohammed Mattar Al Ka’abi, director general of the Authority.
