In a message given through the armed forces magazine Dir Al Watan on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the unification of UAE's armed forces, he also reminded them of their duty to safeguard the nation and its independence from any threats.

“You are the falcons in the sky, lions on land and sea. You will protect our land and waters, giving us dignity and prosperity. It is better to drink bitterness in dignity than drinking sweetness in humiliation," Shaikh Mohammed reminded.

He said that the day the armed forces were unified marked the spirit of national unity and the harmony among the leaders, the people and the military and civil institutions in the county. Shaikh Mohammed also said that the unified armed forces played a vital role in the progress of the nation protecting its integrity and sovereignty from all those who had eyed with greed its wealth and its people. We will walk ahead with more determination, equipping our forces with all what is available, be it be technological, human or weaponry.

In the meantime, we will be able to give more attention to the building of our nation, strengthening its economy and power. Our strategy for development and innovation will thus go ahead uninterrupted, bringing the hopes of people into fruition, Shaikh Mohammed said, in his message.

While the country is protected by our army from the outside forces of greed and mischief, we will be able to concentrate to the areas of development, ensuring our people a life in honour, peace and prosperity. We don't prefer our country to be weak as it will be prone to attack and aggression by others. We have to work towards becoming a strong nation, with security and stability guarantied for its people. In our march to becoming a powerful civilisation protecting peace and coexistence, we need to safeguard our own sovereignty.

“We will always promote dialogue between civilisations in our endeavour to create a single world where justice and equality will rule,” Shaikh Mohammed concluded.
