Universal Breathing - Pranayama

Controlled, mindful breathing is just as important as stretching. This app is designed to teach you the basics of Pranayama - calm diaphragmatic breathing. There's a basic structured course with short exercises that come with a timer and an animated guide. Users can track their progress in the course, customise sess-ions and learn more information about getting their breathing right.

Yoga.com

Yoga.com (not to be confused with Yoga Studio) provides Android and iOS yoga practitioners with a wealth of programmes and poses designed for all skill levels, including HD video demonstrations. Users can also add their own poses and variants, as well as their own custom programmes. Additionally, the app comes with its own social community where you can share or search workouts and schedule sessions on your calendar.
Salute the Desk

Sometimes, you don't have the free time to go out to a yoga studio (don't we know that!) but that doesn't mean you have to forgo a session. This app plays on the name of the popular 'sun salute' (Suryanamaskar) sequence of asanas, and gives you an illustrated routine of poses and meditations designed to relieve tension, improve posture and stretch your body, all while seated in the comfort of your office chair!

Pocket Yoga

Elite athletes use heart rate training to track exertion during a workout and now yogis can, too. If you've got an iPhone 6 with Apple's new HealthKit functionality, you can sync your heart rate monitor and keep a tab on calories burnt and heart rate directly on your phone. There are 27 different illustrated sessions to choose from, along with a guide of all the poses if you're a beginner.

3D Yoga Anatomy

This one's a little geeky, but it's very cool. If you want a scientifically proven way to get the most out of every pose, then this is the app. There's a library of some 40 pose illustrations showing which muscles are shortening, lengthening and stabilising - and how you can deepen each asana to get the most out of your stretches!
