Yemeni president hails Khalifa’s gesture
ABU DHABI — The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, yesterday received a telephone call from the President Ali Abdullah Saleh of Yemen, who thanked him for his generous gesture of donating 500,000 tonnes of wheat to tide over the situation created by the wheat price increases in the international markets.
The Yemeni news agency (Saba) said President Saleh said that Shaikh Khalifa’s initiative reflected the spirit of solidarity among brethren and his keen interest in the welfare of the Yemeni people.
He also referred to the UAE’s contribution in the numerous development projects in Yemen. —
