The event comes to the city through the work of the Emirates Osteoporosis Society and the International Osteoporosis Foundation. More than 50 international journalists are expected to be present to cover the event.

Dubai activities include a “walkathon” at Zabeel Park, a shopping mall awareness campaign and a scientific programme to be held at Al Murooj Rotana.

In addition, a bus-top tour of the city on Wednesday by Um Khammas of FREEJ, the popular 3D Arabic animated cartoon series, brought awareness of osteoporosis to the streets of Dubai.

The walkathon begins at 9am on Saturday and will be backed by day-long osteoporosis awareness stands at Deira City Centre, Ibn Battuta, and Al Ghurair shopping malls.
